AI agent
A Claude-powered assistant that can query your data and, when you allow it, create and update records on your behalf.
OBIC includes an AI assistant powered by Claude. It can answer questions about your data, help you build forms and automations, and — when you grant permission — create and update records for you. It always works within your own access: the agent can only do what your role already allows.
What the assistant can do#
The assistant has two kinds of capabilities:
- Operational — list, search, read and aggregate records, and read or clear your notifications. This is the day-to-day "ask about my data" surface.
- Building — list and create forms, flows and form groups, browse and install Marketplace templates, and organise your workspace. These build actions require admin-level access, the same as doing them by hand.
You'll find the assistant on the dashboard as the OBIC Assistant widget, and it backs the build-by-chat experience.
Per-user permissions#
Writes are opt-in, per user. Each person controls what the agent may do on their behalf with three switches:
| Permission | Default | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| Read records | On | Query, filter and aggregate your data |
| Create records | Off | Add new entries |
| Update records | Off | Modify existing entries |
Reading is on by default; creating and updating are off until you turn them on. If you ask the assistant to do something it isn't allowed to do, it tells you which permission to enable.
Enabling the agent#
Open Settings → Agent and toggle the permissions you want. The change applies only to your account — granting Create records lets the assistant add entries for you, without affecting anyone else.
The agent never exceeds your own role. Even with all three switches on, it can only read and write the forms and rows your access control settings permit.
